    Moderating at Harry_Submits
Okay, I may be crazy but...

    Ok, no buts, yet...

    I volunteered to be a co-moderator at [info]harry_submits.

So, as of today, [info]ethelnorthbrook and I are sharing the post and working on plans for the community. We did a little house-keeping and next maybe on to a fest or some kind of way to have fun. We also set up affiliate comms to so there are versions on LJ, IJ and DW.

Some might be wondering why, with all the WIP I have on my list to do, would I agree to do this? (Well, my family did wonder.) I realised that I feel a bit disconnected from fandom. Sounds odd, eh? I write a lot and I try to reply to comments. (I do fall behind in that.) And when I make time to enjoy other people's fiction, I try to comment too. Oddly enough, if I didn't write fan fiction, I would probably have stayed a lurker. Yes, a lurker. When I first began reading, I certainly didn't know what to say when I read the comms or other people's stories. And, I still don't think I come close to doing justice to the works of art or fantastic stories I am privilege to read. Yet, writing and posting, I learned how much it matters to those who contribute their work to hear from others.

I worry though that I seem "aloof" to others. I've participated in a few fests – five to date – but I am usually worry that I will let people down if I try to write on a deadline and can’t do it. (Yeah, I worry too much.) I write a lot but most of it takes tons of editing before it is anywhere near ready. And I am a slow reader, so I never seem to be able to finish and comment on all the stories in any fest, let alone write for them too. I don’t volunteer to beta very often for much the same reasons.

Yet, I have wanted to participate more and have a way to give back in addition to the writing. Here’s hoping I can do that by helping moderate.
